KBJ Records.com uses WaveLabs, Protools, BBE, Waves, and Cubase hardware and software for audio mastering. With true 16-bit and 24-bit support we maintain the quality of your original recording while enhancing, and sweetening the track. However, it is not the equipment that masters a song it is the expertise and experience of the individual mastering your tracks. At KBJ Records.com, we work with and listen to the needs of the artist. No two tracks are the same and will not be treated as a normality or statistic. Each track receives thorough examination so that the best procedure is applied to make your project sound as great as possible.
What is music mastering?
Simply put, music mastering can make a good sounding track sound great. Just like a glamour shot makes an already attractive person look amazing, cd mastering makes a good sounding song sound great!
Our process
First, we start by examining your original track, checking it for any sonic, or noise issues. We then balance frequencies and enhance over all sound by applying a final EQ to your project. (this is done in the digital mastering domain)
Second, we may choose to convert your recording to an analog state where we use creative compression and limiting to bring your project up to radio standards. It is in this process where warmth and richness is added to the track.
Third, we perform creative trouble shooting procedures. We understand that not all speakers and room settings are the same so KBJ tests the sound of your project in many different acoustical settings. If any extreme problems are heard, we boost your bass, adjust stereo imaging, or even strengthen the frequency of your overall project.
(This takes more time so most cd mastering companies skip this step in the audio mastering process)
Finally, after all songs have been mastered, we then edit and sequence your chosen song orders. Spacing between songs is done by the ear. At KBJ Records.com, we believe that if it sounds good to you, then you can sell it with confidence.

I'm not sure if music mastering will improve the sound.
This is an understandable worry. Send us one track and we will let you know if mastering will significantly help. If there is a severe mix problem or something that you can do to make mastering more beneficial, KBJ will advise you on what to do. This kind of communication is done throughout our entire music mastering process.
